Seafarers Building Power! In the last decade, seafarers have faced decentralisation of ports, automation, isolation and the inability to contact their families, criminalisation, and poor working conditions. Since Sofia 2014, we have been working with seafarers to amend the Maritime Labour Convention, which now provides abandoned seafarers with the guarantee of repatriation, payment of wages, and provisions in cases of emergencies.
In addition, we’re working on managing the processes of automation, and created a stronger network for seafarers, internationally. Watch the video see our accomplishments, and find out what else we’ve been working on, and what we plan to address in the future.
